First Eggs of the 2010 Season from my friend OrangeHorn

Looks like my friend Tung Tran is one of the first few person on this side of the world has white-rumped shama eggs in this 2010 season :) Congrats my friend!
First egg laid on 02/25/2010 which is very early in the season and is the result of careful planning and careful control of temperature, daylight, and diets.

Breeding white-rumped shama: Using high tech

Tung Tran, who is my friend who familiar with high tech stuffs and just begin into keeping/breeding shama set up this live webcam so that he and all his friends can view the shama pair that he attempts to breed this year.  This is the first time he breeds songbirds so there is always nervousness when introduce the male and the female together for the first time.  After 3 days of introduction, so far so good with the male occasional chases the female, but nothing serious.

Shama from Indonesia

William from Indonesia wants to share few pics of his bird.  The two that he currently has is a very young one.  One of them is beginning of his first molt, while the other is less than 2 years old.  According to William, both of the young shama come from a good line of parent, and hope they will be great in the future.

 

 

Shama from Korea

One of the shama lover in Korea, Kihyung, send me the picture of his bird. According to him, keeping shama in Korea is very hard as there isn't much people keeing shama and commercial dry food is very hard to find.

Shama gathering from few aviculturists

Some of us, an avid aviculturist, with the same interest in breeding captive white rumped shama to maintain good population of this type of songbird have a gathering together on Feb. 01, 09. This gathering is a chance to us to get together and sharing information, experiences with each other on the art of keeping, breeding, and training this songbird. The meet is fun and full of information. We are all excited as the breeding season is approaching and our goal is to develop a bird who sings well with full of stamina, and long soft tail. Most of us have decent birds as breeder with tail is between 7in to 9in long.
